All you need to know before registering your student for our sessions.
Students must be at least 15 years old on or before Parent & Student Orientation Night.
Required Virtual Classes (9 hours)
There are 4 required live Zoom classes:
§ A 1.5 hour Parent/Student Orientation
§ Two 3-hour Zoom Classes
§ A 1.5 hour review class before the final exam/permit test
Online AAA Course
Students enroll in an online course through AAA. It can be completed on a computer or mobile device, at the students’ own pace, and is actively monitored by Lighthouse Driving Academy.
Behind the Wheel Instruction
§ Each student completes five 2-hour driving appointments with one of our licensed instructors.
§ Appointments start and end at the Meadowbrook Plaza location.
Final Exam
§ The Maine final exam is administered in person at Lighthouse Driving Academy.
§ To obtain a Course Completion Certificate students must pass all components of the course and pass the final exam with at least an 80%.

A working camera and microphone are required
Reliable internet access is required
A laptop or computer is needed for participation
Classes should be attended from a quiet, well-lit room
No one may not attend any class from a moving vehicle
No TV, music, flashing lights, or background distractions
Students should have a pen or pencil and paper for notes
Course materials provided at pickup should be available
Students must remain seated, attentive, and engaged
